From composer Dan Shutte we have lyrics and music for lines found throughout many of the Psalms. One such composition runs with the joyful chorus:
Sing a new song unto the Lord;
Let your song be sung from mountains high
Sing a new song unto the Lord
Singing alleluia
I have sung it for years, only recently have I asked: Exactly what is this new song? It is the song of a new people, or of people renewed, revived, and refreshed: the song of people restored by the Blood of Christ, people proclaiming the Mystery of Faith.
Inspired to encourage one another to Sing a new song unto the Lord, we praise him, we love him because he first has loved us.
Apostle Paul: The love of God has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. (Romans 5: 5)
Apostle John: God is love, and whoever dwells in love dwells in God, and God in him. (1 John 4: 16)
In the assembly of the saints we give thanks for the love that is grace now, and for glory hereafter. We resolve to live a new life, and to love one another just as he commanded us, alleluia.
So! Our new song is a love song.
