Spirituality True and Proven

Humans have spiritual interests. Growing together in communities across generations and locations, peoples developed ways to express their shared spiritual awareness. Spiritualities many and varied were attempts to respond to the desire to know where we have come from, what is our purpose in the here and now, and where we will be when all is done.

I declare that the spirituality into which I have been drawn is related to faith in an Eternal Being who made man and woman to know, love and serve him in this world, and to be happy for ever with him in heaven.

It is a tradition, developed and handed down over thousands of years. Some of its story is written. It involves Abraham, Moses, David, and many others before the coming of the greatest of its prophets Saint John the Baptist, then Saint Joseph, Blessed Virgin Mary, and Jesus. A spirituality perfect in the person of Jesus Christ, a spirituality shared by people living in the faith of his apostles and disciples. From them arose a new way to renew the human spirit and to grow the tradition that was perfect in Jesus Christ.

Practitioners of the new way shared experiences and insights. These were enshrined in new sacred scriptures added to those of the Hebrews. There followed further texts from the received wisdom and knowledge of early Fathers and Mothers, and from the teaching authority handed on to successors of the apostles. A spirituality not only true but proven came alive from the breath of the Eternal Being who, as Saint Paul advisedcomes to help us weak as we are”. Romans Ch 8 verse 26

Food for the spirit, it flowered forth in prayer and in sacramental liturgy. In turn it was nourished by the exercise of prayer and the celebration of sacramental liturgy. People capable of holiness and of being effective agents of salvation were attracted. Theirs to belong and to grow together with special gifts and ministries that radiated manifold signs of apostolic zeal and missionary action.
