In 2021 the Year of St Joseph, we have been under the special protection of our father Saint Joseph. It is time now for some new special years.
Years of not only us meeting Jesus but also Jesus meeting us.
What does this mean? We are to find out by experience. What it involves we are to learn in the doing. Those who love the Church will come to understand and believe Jesus is coming to this age and at this time. It also requires that we as friends and followers realize that Jesus needs us in the time ahead to journey together and come with him.
These are to be years of Communion, Participation, and Mission.
About our mission with Jesus, I came across a prayer recently that made me ponder how wide is the vision and huge the tasks ahead. A prayer for the season of Advent, the Coming of Jesus:
Upon the richness and complexity of man’s thoughts, among the theories and philosophies of our world today, let your coming shed its own glorious light.
– Lord Jesus, help us to believe that you are coming.
Wow!
Pope Francis describes these years ahead as “an adventure in which everyone must take part”.
He encourages all Catholics to become “experts in the art of encounter”.
