MEDITATION – ASSUMPTION of BLESSED MARY
The Apostle John had a vision of a whole world in great danger, especially churches, and a woman and her baby being attacked. In the vision the child was protected, and the woman too.
We worship the One who chose and safeguarded Blessed Mary, first for the protection of the Child Jesus, and now for the protection of the church and the world. It is our faith that after her time on earth the mother of Jesus was taken up to heaven not as a disembodied soul, but also with her body glorified, like that of the Risen Jesus himself.
There is no place on earth where her bones remain. If there were, pilgrims would have been going there in droves. Instead, there are places approved for pilgrims to gather where it is accepted that Blessed Mary has come in quite recent times bringing special revelations.
Even if we have not ourselves travelled to these places of devotion, many of us accept Mary has a message for the church and the world. She wants everyone to live full lives, and to be with God.
It is believed that if people use their heads and hearts, hands and feet, and every part of themselves to do good works now, their bodies too can shine with hers in glory.
God is Mercy. Mary is the Mother of Mercy. Sopranos hold concertgoers enthralled with beautiful renditions of Ave Maria. Hail Mary!
Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum.
Benedicta tu in mulieribus,
et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Iesus.
Sancta Maria, Mater Dei,
ora pro nobis peccatoribus,
nunc, et in hora mortis nostrae.
Amen.
